Dr Adele Stewart
Dr Adele Stewart finished her medical degree at University of NSW in 1990. She was sent to Wollongong hospital for her internship much to her horror... and has lived and worked in the area ever since! She did general practice training in Scotland on a years sabbatical with her husband Dave and completed her training and fellowship exams in 1995 while working at Woonona Medical Practice. She also worked part time at Wollongong Family Planning prior to its demise in the late 90's.
She now works 5-6 half days per week at the practice and particularly enjoys the variety that general practice offers as well as the privilege of getting to know patients and their families so well over the years.
Although Dr Adele has closed her books to new patients she maintains a special interest in women's sexual health and is happy for visitors to the practice to see her for a set of visits if appropriate. She is a member of the Illawarra Pelvic Pain Network and also has many years of experience treating women with past sexual abuse, vulval pain and difficulty with intercourse. Dr Adele also can advise on the use of diaphragms as contraception. Please phone reception to make an appointment.
Dr Adele sees a limited number of patients on Monday and Thursday afternoons for ACT Therapy (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). She has trained under Dr Russ Harris and Matthieu Villatte. If you are on a mental health plan (which Dr Adele can do if necessary) the out of pocket cost for these sessions is the same as for all our other appointments. This appointment needs to be made by phone: please specify that the appointment is for ACT Therapy. Visitors to the Practice are welcome.

She has 2 teenage children and enjoys yoga, meditation, qigong and reading.
