Skin Cancer Medicine

Woonona Medical Practice offer a professional, bulk billed Skin Cancer checkup monthly with Dr David Stewart. (Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bulk Billed Skin Clinic is not open to new patients though you can see Dr Cameron or Dr Stewart for a private skin consult fees apply). Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in Australia and whilst the majority of skin cancers are found on the head, face, back, arms and legs, they can appear on any part of the body.

The main cause of skin cancer is UV radiation from the sun and at any sex or age anyone can get a skin cancer, especially if you have:

  • Fair skin and freckles easily
  • Light-coloured red hair and eyes
  • Moles on your body
  • Family history of skin cancer
  • Spent a lot of time outdoors

Cryotherapy and diathermy (freezing and burning of skin lesions) are available treatment options.
