Mental Health

Woonona Medical Practice offer mental health practitioners who offer assistance in diagnosing and treating mental illness. The service assists in all forms of mental illness such as anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar and other mental health conditions and upon diagnosis can provide patients with a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a referral to a psychologist if appropriate. Making a double appointment for a mental health appointment is always recommended.

 

Dr Adele Stewart has a special interest in evidence based MBI's (Mindfulness Based Interventions). She is registered to provide Focussed Psychological Strategies and practices in a trauma sensitive manner. She has an interest in the psychological aspects of chronic pain and complex trauma. She has trained under Dr Russ Harris, Matthieu Villatte and Dr Bruno Cayoun. If you are on a mental health plan (which Dr Adele can do if necessary) the out of pocket cost for these sessions is the same as for all our other appointments.

Although she does not currently take on new General Practice patients, visitors to the Practice for MBI’s are welcome and anyone can have a one off brief appointment with no out of pocket cost to discuss their suitability for any of the above MBI's.
